| Description: |
Rome,
Vatican Museum. H. 0.58m. Republican portrait of a statesman, his
toga draped loosely about his neck. He is old, perhaps in his sixties,
with a haggard, lined face, a worried expression, sharp nose, protruding
eyes and a slightly parted mouth. His hair is thick at the back and
sides, thinning on the top. His thick straggling eyebrows dip over
his eyes in the centre, increasing the look of concern. |
