Parthenon
South Frieze. London, British Museum. H. 1.06m. Men leading bulls.
From the left: a man, muffled in a cloak, walks alongside a sacrificial
bull. Alongside the bull walks another muffled man. Behind them, a
second bull raises its head skyward and kicks out with its forelegs.
A youth looks on, and a man (on the next slab) lays a calming hand
on the beast's back. |
