Name: Centaur and Lapith
Picture:
Description: Metope south 7, the Parthenon, Athens. London, British Museum. H. 1.33m. The Lapith, left, strides in to punch the Centaur, right, grabbing a handful of his cloak. The Centaur rears back in surprise at the attack, lashing out with his forelegs to catch the Lapith in the stomach or groin. He fights to regain his cloak, a look of furious panic on his face in contrast to the calm expression of the Lapith.
