With the establishment of the Sir William Fraser Chair
of Scottish History and Palaeography in 1901, Edinburgh
became the first university to teach Scottish history
as an academic subject. Today, Scottish History at Edinburgh
is at the forefront of the discipline. Students here
have an ideal opportunity to study the history of the
country in which they are based.
