Classics
is a very special department. There
is a closer bond between lecturers and students
than other departments. I think this bond is highly
valued.
The
Classics department is truly one of a kind. The
individual attention given to each student is
unmatched. The teaching is simply outstanding.
The department is extremely well-organized, especially
when compared to other departments (which shall
remain nameless). Most importantly, there is a
real sense of 'community' which makes for a unique
and positive learning environment that really
encourages and gets the best out of the students.
The
Classics department is utterly unique. Its small
size, in terms of both staff and students, means
that personal relationships between lecturers
and students can be developed. This makes Classics
all the more enjoyable as you are known and valued
individually by the staff. The feeling that the
department genuinely cares about its students
is one that not many departments can boast; and
the lovely thing about the Classics department
is that it doesn't. It has an understated charm.
The
classics department is wonderful. Emails are always
answered quickly. The staff always make an effort
to come to the events which are organised by the
students. The classics department has also managed
to keep hold of the Classics library which is
an essential resource.
